Update with a variety of information and attachments… oh, and – judges needed!

First up – need judges for the Capitol Classic on October 14th – the Austin Scale Modelers’ Society show. www.austinsms.org/contest.php

Boyd has agreed to be Head Aircraft Judge again this year and needs volunteers to judge the contest models. He shared that at last year’s show, there were only two teams of three to judge 300+ aircraft models. So if you can attend, and can judge, please let me know.

Secondly, in the attachments for your enjoyment and pondering, “Two Paths” from Rick – some interesting and very different approaches from the manufacturers. Philosophical.

Thirdly, $2000 was donated to the Houston Food Bank. As mentioned in the previous email on the subject, time was against us for the split option. But we did our best to get your input. Combining the attendees at the meeting and the email responses, had a 60% response rate with 40% not responding.

Finally, if anyone fancies Denver, CO in late October, the new Rocky Mountain Hobby-Expo will take place 28th & 29th Denver Mart. The show will cover all hobbies, including Scale Models. Many hands-on activities with a goal of creating new hobbyists. Manufacturers include Evan Designs, Grex, Iwata, Minicraft, Supertite, Woodland and Xuron. Vendors include Colpar Hobbies, HobbyTown Westminster, Jane’s Tools and Scenery Solutions. Kits include AMT, Italeri, Minicraft, MPC, Revell and Tamiya including some discontinued models. Activities include Model Contest, Make-N-Take and beginning and advanced workshops from the CoMMIES and Rob Wolf Chapters of IPMS, Caboose, Grex, Iwata, Scenery Solutions, Reynolds Advanced Materials and Woodland. Additional activities include hands-on Tamiya Mini4WD and RC racing and crawling. www.rockymountainhobby-expo.com

Sounds quite the event…
